A High-end retail building along the Zelkova streets of Omotesando. 7 stories high with a total area of 2,550 sqm. Silhouettes of Zelkova trees wrap around the narrow L shaped site to form the building’s façade. 9 tree-like patterns made of 30cm thick reinforced concrete structure is overlapped to form openings expressed with frame-less glass windows. The symbolic and powerful structural figure along with the primitive materiality expressed in an abstract graphic expression coexists, allowing for the structure and the envelope to be integrated in the building, differing from the typical neighbouring commercial glass curtain walls along the same street.
