Kizashi - From Error to Mirror

I tend to keep the large amounts of offcuts left from making, unable to throw them away, letting them pile up in the corners of my studio until the space is buried in small mounds of scrap.
Years later, when I take them out again, I sometimes find myself drawn to a presence—a “natural unnaturalness”—I had overlooked at the time. These traces, neither wholly man-made nor entirely natural, return with a quiet, mysterious allure that invites reflection. One day, while practicing welding, a slumped, melted piece of aluminum scrap caught my eye. Its soft nuance, unlike anything expected from metal, held a warmth of handcraft never found in industrial production. This series gathers works—and their records—born from such accidental failures.
