COCOON ANATOMY

Sericulture, which began in the 3rd century and supported Japan's modernisation, is currently in decline. In the past, people read the terrain and environment, imagined the sensations of living creatures and nature, spun yarn and created structures called cloth. Many memories have been accumulated in this sericultural existence, but in the present day, opportunities to interact with nature and feel the perspectives of living organisms are being lost.

With the aim of bringing new perspectives and values to sericultural culture, the exhibition COCOON ANATOMY reads and reinterprets its existence and combines traditional techniques rooted in the land with the latest technology to present garments with a new process using cocoons as a material.
