Designed From Japanese MOTTAINAI Mind of OKE

Interior products collaborated between a craftsman, Kiyoshi Tanikawa, who made a traditional Japanese basin called Oke, and Masato Suzuki, a Japanese industrial designer.

Not to waste wood, to make the most of natural resources, they make the circle shape with the different widths of wood pieces and hide the joint line to make it beautiful. It is called the MOTTAINAI mind in Japan, which expresses that people hate wasting something. By intentionally making slits between the pieces they were hiding, we emphasized the different widths of the pieces and visualized that they never waste wood. This brand name, MOBIRAKA, is from a combination of MOTTAINAI and NOBIRAKA, which means relaxing.
We hope you can relax by using this Mottainai-minded product and seeing the peaceful Seto Inland Sea.

We will exhibit a sofa, a lamp, and a flower vase.

BRAND / CREATOR

Kiyoshi Tanikawa
Tanikawa Mokkougei
The third-generation Craft Man

After working as a caregiver, he became a craft man, the third generation in Tanikawa Mokkougei, a craft company of the Japanese basin called Sanuki Oke in Kagawa 2017.His father, Masanori Tanikawa, the second generation, disagreed that his son becomes the third because the Oke market is getting smaller for the changing lifestyle. Despite his father's opinion, Kiyoshi Tanikawa decided to become the third. He invented a new Oke in which you can warm food with a microwave oven the same year, named the Sanuk-ben (Sanuki lunch box). In addition, by collaborating with designers and other companies, he is creating new products using his technical skills for Oke and struggling with the new Sanuki Oke, which matches our current lifestyle.
